Re: Scottish Football Historical Archive

Due to a problem with the free .co.nf suffix, it has been suspended. This has meant the SFHA site is down yet again and unless I can find a free host the only freely available access will be via the webarchive. I am looking at getting the site up and running again but please don't expect anything to...

Re: John Byrne

A true trailblazer, I understand he had been ill for a number of years. His work on the Scottish Cup is phenonemal and must surely be regarded as the high point of research of the game in this country. Although I was interested in the historical side of football that book was what really got me into...

Re: The American Cup (Brechin)

From my own notes it was first played for in 1889-90 by junior clubs from Brechin. In 1901 it was reformed as the Brechin Junior League and from 1903 it was regraded as a juvenile competition. The town's three junior clubs in competed for again in 1950. The winners I have are as follows... 1889-90 C...

Re: Clydebank in Dunbartonshire Cup 1920/21

Alan, I dug this out from my notes Round robin, each club played the other once only with the top two meeting in a 'final'. I'm not sure if the Renton/Dumbarton Harp match was played but if Renton had won it they would have been in with a chance of being in the final. Clydebank - Dumbarton 2-2 Clyde...

Re: Junior International records

Version 3 is now available for general download. Because of some hosting issues I have created a new subsiduary site that will hopefully eventually contain as much Junior content as possible and this will host the Database. The new site's address is... Scottish Junior Football History with the link ...

Re: Topscorers in Division Two

John Litster's disc has some info on Div 2 scorers but is very, VERY incomplete. I understand that an update is planned for publication in about two years time, but my guess is to research this list in the meantime if you need the info pronto.

Hearts HAVE previously played 4 games at Murrayfield, so this DOES give them a massive advantage over Celtic.

Re: A.McGill - Albion Rovers

According to Litster his first name was Allan and was an outside or inside left.

He signed from Blantyre Hibernian on 19 Jan 1903 and his last entry is for 1907-08. From 1905-06 til then he was on the League's OTT list.
