Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar

The Gibraltar game worked out at something like £31 if you’re a season ticket holder in the West or East stands, that is the price for all five home games. The Northern Ireland game was free for season ticket holders, so overall it’s been a fairly decent deal. The walk up prices were indeed scandalo...

Midlothian Junior League 1892-93?

According to my research, the Midlothian Junior League (or Donaldsons League as it is sometimes known), began in season 1893-94 with Arniston Rangers the first winners. There has been suggestions that a league existed in the area the previous season, 1892-93, but I have not found much evidence of th...

Re: Durhamstown Rangers 1880s

As others have said, it’s now an area of Bathgate although in those days it probably sat separate. If you class it as part of Bathgate in those days I think Bathgate had two senior teams at the time.

Re: Bathgate Park, Edinburgh

Emmet were a fairly successful side, winning the East of Scotland Junior Cup in 1924-25 and 1928-29, also the East of Scotland Junior League is their first season 1919-20. They lost the play-off at Meadowbank to Dunbar United in 1927-28 for the Midlothian League Championship. Other trophy wins inclu...

Re: Oldest Clubs in order?

I notice East Kilbride FC have just launched themselves into the Top 20, showing 1871 on their club badge, despite their website advising they were formed around 2010. Is this stretching things a bit far? Penicuik Athletic show 1888 on their badge, despite only reforming about 12 years ago and even...

Re: League Reform 1945 to 1967 (16-16)

I remember reading that the 1955 proposals for three divisions included a Grangemouth club created by the merging of junior duo Grange Rovers and Forth Rangers. As the port was at the forefront of the future oil industry boom, the thought was that a league club could survive. The clubs did merge an...

Re: Scottish Cup 2015-16

Has anyone been able to obtain crowd figures so far? there seems to be a dearth of attendance figures being announced, again.

Re: Clubs Reforming

Can we avoid discussion on Rangers seeing as they are undoubtedly the same club and no period of inactivity was evidenced. I know a lot of people who would take issue with that statement, and not just the social media wind-up merchants either. However we'll leave that to one side. I like the point ...

Scottish FA pre-war tours to North America

I know there is information out there with regards to the squad, results, venues, line-ups and attendances etc, but are there any written accounts of these tours contemporary or otherwise? as beyond the bare stats, there's not much out there (although to be fair, I have not checked archive newspaper...

Re: Making Scottish Football Better

There is of course no easy answer, but the club academy system does come in for a lot of criticism, and I do have sympathy for the view that we should get back to basics with kids playing with their friends at local boys clubs/community clubs with only the very best picked-off by the pro-clubs for t...
