Scotland v Brazil

With the Scotland U20 team's victory over Brazil at the Toulon Tournament, was this the first ever victory over Brazil at any age level as is being reported?

Dundee tour 1978

I have obtained a programme from the Newcastle KB United v Dundee match played on 17th May 1978, in Newcastle, New South Wales. I believe the score was 2-1 to the home side. What were the other matches on this tour? there's not much about it in the programme, and I can't find out much about it on th...

Re: The Pyramid

If I was a betting man, I would be putting money on Kelty being in East of Scotland league next season I'm not convinced, but if it does happen then it would certainly send a few ripples through Junior fitba. Likely East Region Champions jumping ship to the struggling East of Scotland League. Howev...

Re: The Pyramid

Yes fair enough, if the West and East Junior Superleagues “plugged into” a new Lowland League West and East, then at that point you require a Licence to progress into the LL. If you have a Licence then you are obliged to go up, if you don’t have a Licence in the first place you won’t go up anyway. S...

Re: The Pyramid

The view of many of the top Junior clubs (rightly or wrongly) is that they have little or no interest at playing at a national level ie SPFL2, against clubs that really aren’t any bigger than themselves. There are a few exceptions of course. My opinion is that involvement in the Lowland League could...

Re: Early Scotland internationalists - new details

Returning to this thread after a long time, an update on the Ellis conundrum. I was browsing through copies of Scottish Sport for 1892, and they consistently refer to the internationalist as D Ellis. They also remark that the internationalist owed his place in the international trial to the fine ga...

Re: The Pyramid

As has been said, the promotion of Edusport underlines the ham fisted bodge job the SFA made of the Lowland League, and to be fair the Licencing system which allows a "club" like that to play at the 5th tier (and BSC). A club with no ground, no community, no fans. The most obvious step for...

Re: Alexander Wood

An amendment to the above, the West Lothian Libraries History HQ has moved from Blackburn to Linlithgow (old court buildings I think), along with the newspaper microfilms, which include the West Lothian Courier and the Linlithgow Gazette.
