Re: Third Lanark Petition
Reviving the name Third Lanark in some form of a football club existence is one thing - good luck to them - but as for a comeback to senior side status, as seems to be the implied ambition......................I can't see it happening frankly.

Johnny Kilgannon - St.Johnstone
Just wondering if any older Saints fans remember the circumstances of his tragic death in a car crash in 1967 ? His brother Jim (Third Lanark) was badly injured in this accident. They came from a well known footballing family in the Stirling area - cousins Bill, John and Jim all played professionall...

I was at the Dunfermline v St.Johnstone league game in the early 1980's when John Pelosi perpetrated (the only word to describe it) his infamous "tackle" on Bobby Smith - more like a Kung Fu attack. Absolutely the worst act of violence I've witnessed at a game, really shocking. That was the compensa...

I have it as March 1st at Tynecastle Due to these cup replays Dunfermline ended up playing something like 5 competitive games over an eight day period, including 3 games with only one day off in between each. A league game on the Saturday, the last of the three cup ties (2nd replay) on the Monday a...

when Aberdeen were 2-0 winners at Ibrox. It was 3-2 he says pedantically, leaving Celtic needing to avoid a 16-0 defeat at East End Park to secure the title. Thanks for correcting my memory !!! A few days later Dunfermline, as Cup winners, entertained Celtic, the Champions elect (unless the lost by...

Berwick 1967 was a seismic shock for Rangers and the following 67/68 campaign was another barren season. They failed to contest either of the two major cup finals - compounded by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in the last game of the league season when Aberdeen were 2-0 winners at Ibrox, ...

Celtic reached a European final the year they lost to Inverness in the Scottish Cup. Rangers reached the ECWC final the season of the Shieldfield Park debacle. They might have won it if they had still had a couple of servicable goal scorers on their playing staff when the final was played. Except t...

I mind seeing a unique George Miller goal for Falkirk on the telly years ago - think it was the latter stages of the League Cup against Hibs at Brockville, early 1970's. He cleared from his own half with a huge up and under rugby type punt - the Hibs defenders assumed offside would be given but the ...

I'm intrigued to learn which cup upset ranks above Berwick 1967 in the all time shock results lists !!! Any number of Celtic's calamities over the last decade or so - Raith Rovers, Inverness (2), Clyde and Falkirk spring to mind. Some of them over extra time, replays or with home advantage. Stenhou...

"Can members post images here ?" A rhetorical question / talking to myself !!! Dundee and Scotland right back Alex Hamilton had a group called "Hammy & The Hamsters" and Shuggie Robertson was a member. They had a song released which became a minor success in the Dundee area. Craig Brown talked about...
