Re: SFA National Youth Competition (1946-1975)

I played for the Lanarkshire Boys Guild Association and were a decent side having beat East Fife youths (S Forms) at Bayview in a warm up match for this tourney. East Fife were in Division 1 at the time so it was seen as a great result. We played Scottish Amateurs at Douglas Park and I scored to put...

Re: Sandy McMahon

My figures are also slightly different but the frustration for me when I was checking books like Paul Lunney's was not knowing the source for the published data. Where possible, like others, I have tried to check as many reports as possible and this has resulted in plugging gaps where scorers were n...

Re: John Litster's pre war spreadsheet available soon

I have the original CD and John said at the time original subscribers would receive a £10 discount. However, it looks like he's gone way beyond his original aim of not researching fresh material. In this case, I for one will be more than delighted to pay the full price. I agree with that and will d...

Re: Joe McBride RIP

I had the pleasure of seeing Joe score lots of goals for Celtic. The injury he got in late 66 was a great pity as there is no doubt he would have played in Lisbon and may have broken Scottish goalscoring records in that same season. He was a guest a local Celtic supporters club function I attended a...

Re: Rangers Liquidation. What Happens Next?

David, If the highlighted comment above refers to Phil Mac Giolla Bhain then that is outrageous - Leggatt is a low life for a variety of reasons and is the only "journo" that I have ever complained about when he was writing articles (with a crayon presumably) for the People newspaper I'm sorry you ...

Re: Rangers Liquidation. What Happens Next?

Aye, nice two hibLOG. I feel, I have to doff my hat to Phil Mac Giolla Bhain, for two crackers, he refers to Club 12 as "I Can't Believe It's Not Rangers" I Can't Believe It's Not been said by many people (including on here) other than Celtic's answer to David Leggatt . David, If the highlighted co...

Re: Blairhall Juniors to Celtic

The reference for James McDonald in The Alphabet of Celts states that James joined the club on 28th January 1939 from Blairhall Colliery and also includes the following: "Blairhall Colliery was Celtic's Fifeshire nursery on the eve of WWII and provided Celtic with Jimmy Birrell, Tom Harvey, James Mc...
