Yes, it's interesting - considering that the usual Premiership average goals per game is around 2.5-2.6
I wonder when Scottish fans will give up watching the domestic product altogether and start travelling to Premiership matches - that's if they can get tickets.

It's not only Scottish fans not turning out for European ties - looking at last season's European attendances several of the big clubs in Spain and Italy had room enough to have a lie down for many of the matches in the group stages - only getting a full house for a recognised "big" opponent. Which ...

We're in the 3rd group of seeds . Where did you see this? I've seen various unofficial rankings to this effect with Scotland ranked between 23-26 but nothing official. According to UEFA earlier this week final positions won't be known until the completion of the World Cup qualifiers and will be bas...

It wasn't the results against the Dutch that did for us - considering none of the other teams took a point off them. It was only getting 1 point and no goals from Norway. Since the European Championships and World Cup reached their present size our performances in qualfiers have been like this 1996 ...

That may be a rather gloomy view. We only need ONE of the three groups which look interesting to go our way. However I do remember both the 1986 and 1990 World Cups when the other teams seemed to conspire with each other to prevent Scotland reaching the 2nd round. But we don't ALWAYS have bad luck -...

Actually you're agreeing with me! Let's just look at it in historical terms - 40-50 years ago we DID produce players - enough to not only have a decent standard of domestic league football, but to provide the English 1st Division with about 20% of its best players, and an international team <occasio...

When I ventured south of the Border in 1980 Scottish football was in a bad way - a poor set of international results followed by these ones at the start of the new season Liverpool 4 Aberdeen 0 Timisoara 1 Celtic 0 Chesterfield 3 Rangers 0 (not a misprint) Yet a few months later a largely "home scot...

Celtic and Relegation
In season 1951-2 Celtic didn't escape the threat of relegation until winning their 2nd last game. On 15th March they lost 3-1 to St Mirren leaving this situation Celtic played 27 points 23 Airdrie 27 22 Morton 27 21 Thirds 25 21 Stirling 29 14 Celtic's next game was against East Fife, then 3rd in th...

Very Hell
After David's book "very heaven" I wonder if it's time for "Very Hell" which would be about the worst season in Scottish football history. I wonder if last season makes the shortlist. A few candidates 1954-55 - lost 7-2 to England - but it was quite a good season domestically, unless you were an Old...

Changed days indeed - it used to be almost certain that the biggest crowd of the season would be a home tie in the Cup. Same thing happening in England too, there were some dreadful attendances in the last round of the FA Cup. In England part of the reason is that even if they field a team stuffed w...

Kilmarnock v Celtic
Was the attendance for this tie really only 6,491? What's going on?
