Sorry, forgot to say that he made 5 league appearances for Dunfermline, scoring twice, before being released at the end of the season. I think he may have played for Berwick Rangers for a while after that.

From Dunfermline programme v Rangers, 3.11.73: Aged 29, Jim began his career in the junior grade with Lochore Welfare and joined Celtic as a part-time player. He remained at Parkhead for three seasons, playing mainly in the reserve team. From Celtic, Jim joined Alloa Athletic and spent about three s...

One record between Scottish clubs that was omitted from the article in SFH was Alex Smith's £51,000 transfer from Dunfermline to Rangers in August 1966.

Charlie Dickson scored in ten seconds for Dunfermline against Celtic on 19 March 1960, probably a club record although I've seen Jackie Sinclair credited with seven seconds against Hearts in a League Cup tie at Tynecastle on 14 August 1974. Perhaps Hearts supporters could verify this?

There was another Willie Houliston who was a centre-forward for junior side Ashfield. He signed for Dunfermline in January 1944 - it could well have been him.

I've found out a bit more and it seems that his career began with Nairn County, although I still don't know if that's who Dunfermline signed him from.

I'm pretty sure that he was signed from a junior or juvenile club although there's always the chance that he was the same player who was at Raith Rovers for a month in August 1934. Dunfermline restarted a reserve team in 1935 and signed a load of new players. Morrison, a young chauffeur, arrived aft...

John Morrison, Dunfermline & Hearts

Centre-forward John Morrison, Dunfermline 1935-1937, then Hearts for one season (?). Does anyone know where his career started?

The closed-circuit coverage at Dunfermline was organised by a London company called Sportsound who erected two screens, 30 x 40 feet, each costing £600. The one facing the stand was ripped to shreds by high winds earlier in the day and was hastily replaced by a whitewashed tarpaulin. Crowd was limit...

League debuts at 15

Does anyone know of outfield players making their Scottish League debuts at fifteen years of age? I recently read of two, Andy Penman of Dundee in 1958/59, and Sam McMillan, for Ayr in 1952/53 , but are there any more? I was under the vague impression that, by Penman's time at least, the SFL had sto...

Parkhead Juniors

Can anyone tell me the Parkhead Juniors line-up that defeated Cambuslang Rangers in the 1919/20 Scottish Junior Cup Final?

I've checked through other books and it seems to be a very mixed bag as far as the league table for that season goes. I'll have to check another couple of contemporary newspapers to confirm the score. Is it worth contacting the Scottish League about this?

Thanks for that, it's more or less what the Dunfermline Journal reports. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the SDA? The paper's end of season league tables don't help, as it attributes DAFC with scoring the goal but Bo'ness as not having conceded it. Other clubs for/against totals don't match those i...

Bo'ness v Dunfermline, 1923/24

Every record book I've got has the score of this match, on 23rd February, as 2-1 to Bo'ness. Strangely, the reports in both of Dunfermline's local papers give the score as 2-0, which puts them at odds with league tables, etc. Does anyone have access to a copy of the match report from a different pap...
