Re: mystery photo

Ad in the background is for "Firestone Pneus" tyres, which appears to be of Portuguese origin.

Re: Island Clubs in the Scottish Cup

At the risk of stating the obvious, Canvey Island done well in the FA Cup in recent times. And following last night's 1-1 draw at Mansfield, Concord Rangers too. Well done the Beach Boys. Wouldn't it be nice if they could win the replay? God Only Knows if they will... Canvey Island is, of course, t...

Re: Scotland v England

Despite the 60,000 capacity at Celtic Park I see the attendance is confirmed as 49,526? This makes it the first sub-50,000 crowd for a Scotland v England game since the 'extra' game in 1972-73 to mark the SFA Centenary, 0-5 in bad weather on a February midweek. Just trying to jog the memory - was t...

Re: FA Cup in the raw.

I remember that on the final day of the season there was much talk of Burnley possibly going down but they won their last game to avoid that ignominious "distinction" of becoming the first ever club to lose their league place via relegation. Much of the talk related to them having been a founder me...

Re: Scotland 1-0 Georgia 11th October 2014 Attendance

I've seen a figure quoted of 850 grand being paid to Rangers/The Rangers/Sevco/Newco for ground rental. Can anyone confirm, or otherwise? I seriously doubt it and would hope not. Assuming an average price of £40 (inc season tickets), revenue for Saturday's match would be around £1.4M. On the figure...

Re: Island Clubs in the Scottish Cup

Veering away from our normal territory for a moment, there is, of course, a case of an "island" club winning its national cup competition in the recent past. Think about it.

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

I'm still not understanding this apparent UEFA policy that requires suspended players to be included in squads for any suspension to count. Surely if a club knows that a player is ineligible to play through suspension then it's common sense not to then include them in the squad, this being exactly ...

Don’t recall Alex Harvey recording a Nazi anthem unless it was either a send-up or irony.
