Re: Teams who have changed colours quite often
The Queen`s tradition of wearing the shirts outside the shorts is carried on by a few players @ Hampden still but generally died out in the 1980s. Apparently clubs started to tuck the shirts inside the shorts circa 1915 when the subtle foul of shirt tugging became fashionable. Pleased to say that t...

Re: Longest Gap From Debut to Second Appearance
John Connolly gave the 16 year old Gibson his debut (as a substitute) on 5th May 2001, the last game of that particular season, a 1-0 home loss to already relegated Queens Park . He livened the game up and was given the man of the match award. Pedant's time, but if we had bettered Forfar's result t...

Longest Gap From Debut to Second Appearance
Last Saturday at Montrose, Steven Baillie made his second appearance for Queen's Park.
His first was against Stirling Albion on 14th May 2009, a gap of two years and eleven months.
Is anyone aware of a longer gap between a player's debut and his second appearance?

Re: Three penalties
This is what I have on Scottish League games where four penalties have been awarded. Please add to this list ... 16.8.2003 Queen’s Park 5 Elgin C 3 – apparently only time in Scottish Lge five pens awarded – Stevie Reilly scored three pens for QP According to my records there were only the three pen...

Re: Three penalties
Looking through the Herald and Scotsman archives today and I came across another example of this that I hadn't seen mentioned before, although it may be included in Leatherstocking's figure of fourteen occurances mentioned above. It's Herd of Hamilton Accies scoring three penalties against Partick T...

Re: HAMPDEN
I've no idea to be honest. I would be surprised if we were made to play everyone else at Hampden once and elsewhere once, if Hampden is available then it would be wasteful to hire out another ground. I suppose we could cite the re-building of Hampden as a precedent, we played the first four or five ...

Re: HAMPDEN
At the last members' meeting it was indicated that we would vacate Hampden around September/October next year and expect to be out for around a year.

Queen's Park v Hamilton Academical 16/01/1926
Was wonering if anyone could help with a query I have about the above game, which Queen's won 6-2 Looking at the Herald and Scotsman archives, both papers mention that J.B. McDonald scored four of Queen's goals, the other two coming from W.G. Nicholson. The Herald archive isn't very clear, but the S...

Re: Morton v Queen's Park 1920/21
The Herald for April 9th has a match report on page 4 column 3 Just me being blind as a bat then. I thought I may have had the wrong date as The Men With The Educated Feet had us playing Clydebank away that season on 3rd March when the game took place on 2nd April, I wondered if there had been a bi...

Morton v Queen's Park 1920/21
Would anyone out there be able to confirm what date this match took place on?
According to the Men With The Educated Feet, the match was played on Friday 8th April 1921, Morton winning 4-3.
However, having searched the Scotsman and the Herald I can see no mention of the game around this date.

Would the Merchants' Charity Cup fall into one of your categories?
Last played for in 1960/61 from what I can see.

Well, he's back with Queen's Park at just over 45 years and 7 months, I think I'm correct in saying that would make him the oldest known outfield player in the SFL's history?Bristol Rovers wrote:Andy Millen was 42y 279d, according to Wikipedia, when he played his last game for St Mirren v Hearts, 15 March 2008.

Re: Hamilton v Queen's Park 06/10/1923
Thank you for the replies. J.B. Is no relation to Hamish McAlpine as far as I'm aware (not sure if you're being serious there or not!). I did check Bob Crampsey's centenary book, he makes no specific mention of anything unusual happening in the game, simply that McAlpine's penalty was bettered by tw...

Hamilton v Queen's Park 06/10/1923
I was reading the Herald archive on Google for the above match, and it mentions that Queen's keeper W. Blair was taken off injured, J.B. McAlpine taking over in goal. J.B. McAlpine then scored a penalty in the second half, however the report does not mention if Blair recovered sufficiently to re-tak...
