All WW1 death dates re-checkable via CWGC site or Soldiers Who Died d/base on FMP. That said, even with the plethora of info around about WW1 casualties on the eve o...

Re: Henry A Duff

Just to muddy the waters a bit further: There's a memorial inscription in a Stevenston graveyard to a Henry Duff, son of Henry and Mary, with a USA death date of 22.12.1924; and a tree on the web matching this demise to a Stevenston birth of c1885. By the way, I'm rather assuming the original query ...

Re: Jock (John) Halliday and Billy Halliday??

Sorry, Scottish FA - no disrespect whatsoever - but I beg to differ.

David Halliday def d. Aberdeen : rechecked on Scotland's People and (just to be sure) total blank on Find My Past with regards to England.

Re: Jock (John) Halliday and Billy Halliday??

Sorry, guys, not exactly a substantive reply, but the following may at least untangle one or two of the knotted threads of the Hallidays [verbatim from the 2010 edition of "Of Fossils & Foxes', Leicester City history, managers section]: HALLIDAY, David Stirring a few more Scots into the playing blen...

Panbride, 26th March 1886 [Scotland's People verified with parents names] Upon the death of his mother, the Dundee Courier of 5th December 1935 implies that he was still at that point a professional golfer in the States [BNA look-up]. Re: Alex Rennie, goalkeeper early 1890s

Just as a PS to the last post:

His 1911 census entry shows him as born in Edinburgh, c1870, no middle name, still a police constable in Liverpool, living with second wife.

Potential death date of Liverpool, JFM quarter 1929, aged 59, via FMP.

Cheers,

Re: So, farewell then, Hearts

Sorry.... An Anglo intervention. (Precipitated, I should say, by a sense of gloom over this and allied threads in which the miseries of (two sets of) powerless supporters, are aired at increasingly desperate loggerheads, in the time-worn sense of two bald men arguing over the respective values of tw...

Re: John Anderson

Hi Rob,

Give me a couple of hours (hopefully), and I should be able to source a pic from my "Of Fossils & Foxes" co-author, Dave Smith. If I can then work out how to attach it, I'll send you a PM.

Cheers,

PT

Re: Sandy & Tommy Brown, Glenbuck Cherrypickers

Again, nothing definitive to add to this perplexing thread, beyond ANOTHER note of caution/confusion: There's an Alexander White Brown born in Glenbuck, Muirkirk, on 28th [September ???; illegible] 1877, but not registered until 24th November 1877, to John (miner) and Agnes [nee White]. Right place,...
