Re: DUNBLANE ROVERS

Andy,
Thank you for that. I`m compiling a list of Queen`s friendlies after a desultory fashion ie. while searching for various other things, I note down any I find en route eg. games against Northern Nomads, Dunblane Rovers etc.

Re: DUNBLANE ROVERS

Thank you chaps. I`ll get in touch with the Stirling Observer. The Strathearn paper(good call, Gogsy) HAS a brief report of the game giving the reason for the game, the score and an approximate attendance. I did a brief swatch @ Frank McCrossan`s webpage and the only game Dunblane played against QP`...

Re: DUNBLANE ROVERS

Gordon,
Aye, most frustrating - that`s as far as I`ve got too. The Falkirk Herald`s no help. With all QP records pre 1945 up in flames & Dunblane Rovers disappearing just after the War, I think the chances of finding out any more is virtually nil.

Re: D v S

Gordon, Thank you for the reply(so quick!). I`ve discovered Todd Played for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in season 1910-11 before returning to Clydebank Juniors for 1911-12. Do you have a date for the game he DID play in(1910-11)? Dunbartonshire was spelled Dumbartonshire until 1896 so I think the reporter...

DUNBLANE ROVERS

On 26th April 1927, Queen`s Park played a charity game against Dunblane Rovers @ Duckburn Park(3-3 draw) for the Victoria Hall fund. Does anyone have both teams and scorers?

D v S

I have a photograph, which for some reason won`t transfer onto this page, of an international style cap probably dark blue with silver trim to cap an peak with D v S in silver thread on the cap and 1911 on the peak. I believe it was awarded to Alex Todd who signed for Queen`s Park circa 1912. He liv...

Re: Fastest Scotland international goal

I was @ the Scotland vs. Brazil in 1966 & had been given a brand new stop watch as a present. Stevie Chalmers` goal came after 38 seconds. Pele`s equaliser came after 15min 3sec.

Queen`s Park goalie vs. Rangers 25/9/1944 was Jimmy Steadward NOT Bobby Brown - sorry!

Re: Oldest Surviving Scottish Internationalists

Very sad to hear about Bobby Brown. He made his Queen`s Park debut vs.Celtic @ Parkhead in a 4-4 wartime league game on 13th April 1940 aged just 16yrs 25days. He was more or less QP`s regular `keeper intil 1942 when he joined the Royal Navy making sporadic appearances at Hampden until sharing goalk...

Re: Seven different scorers

When Queen`s Park beat Manchester AC 15-0 in an English Cup tie on 1st December 1883, Charles Campbell, Eadie Fraser, Willie Anderson, David Allan, Dr.John Smith, Bob Christie & Willie Harrower all scored. While Queen`s regualarly battered opponents by double figures in the 19thC the poor hacks on t...

Re: Part-time players with Scottish caps

Jimmy Gilmour, Queen`s Park`s winger, made a substitute appearance for Scotland`s semi professional side vs. England on 4th June 1983; an amateur of course.
