CUP PRESENTATIONS

My choice to unfurl the championship flag (&, to be honest, anything else she cares to unfold) is Sophia Loren. Even into her 70s that woman is extraordinary. Just off to lie down now.

SCOTTISH CUP TRIVIA

The last 3 players to win the Scottish Cup with 2 different clubs can all put Rangers & Hearts on their CVs - Doris McPherson, Neil McCann & Elvis. Has any other Scottish Cup winning team contained so many players who`ve won national cups in other contries too? Jankauskis with Porto 2003, Cesnauskis...

missing playoffs

Goodness knows what`s going to happen next season. The 1st Division clubs (except St.Johnstone because of Geoff Brown`s position on the 1st Division executive) plus Thistle & Morton had a meeting on Friday night & will have another next Friday to try & work out how they`re going to survive without a...

CUP PRESENTATIONS

Has anyone got a list of the VIPs who`ve presented the Scottish Cup over the years? Wee Jackie McCandle yesterday must be something of a low in what you can term a VIP while inviting Maggie, Maggie, Maggie a few years ago must have been about the most crass.

Other bits & pieces from the great 2005-06 season (apart from the Spiders not getting promotion & not winning the Cup again for the 113th year in succession): Dundee had a dire season but didn`t have a single player sent off. Brechin ditto season but collected 10 red cards. Sotris Kirgiakos the famo...

I can`t think who you mean. It MIGHT be ex Albion, Ayr, Motherwell, Raith, Falkirk, Clyde, Stirling, Clydebank, Hamilton, QUEEN`S PARK & E.Stirlingshire starlet Ally Graham with his dad on the left in the cap doing his eagle silhouette trick with his hands but it`s difficult to be sure from the back...

FOUR NATIONS TOURNAMENT

The last Queen`s Park player to wear Scotland`s dark blue was Jimmy Gilmour in 1983 in what was referred to as the "FOUR NATION SEMI PROFESSIONAL TOURNAMENT". This tournament took place annually from 1979 to at least 1987. The Scottish sides were made up of players from the 1st & 2nd Divisions to st...

MISSING PLAYOFFS.

Talking of "missing playoffs", @ the end of 1999-2000 season, the SPL increased from 10 to 12 clubs with the top 2 in the 1st Division (St.Mirren & Dunfermline) being prmoted. If Falkirk`s ground had been to contemporary SPL standard, they`d have played off with bottom club Aberdeen for a palce in t...

Don`t know how this happened but my reply went onto the "AFS" line. Anyway, Brechin hold the record for "reverse titles" by finishing bottom 12 times, Albion Rovers have 9, Shire now have been dunces 8 times. Edinburgh City were last 6 times in their 8 season league career.
