Ayr United v Rangers attendance

Has anybody seen a crowd yet?

I've looked on the Scotsman, Herald, Ayr United, Rangers, SPFL and BBC websites.

Might Ayr's biggest crowd this season be bigger than Kilmarnock's?

You do get some tremendous, and very quick, answers from Scottish. Thanks.

Re: Hampden's 100,000+ Crowd Records

Does this include all crowds larger than the largest Old Firm-only attendance?

149,547 Scotland v England 17/4/37. New world record, all-time Hampden record, still European crowd record
I've seen 150,000 quoted for a match at the San Siro in the mid-1980s. AC Milan, I think.
Do you know about that game?

Porn is bad for your brain, according to Shereen Nanjiani on Radio Scotland this morning.

Missing Shereen is also bad for your brain.

Alternative World Cup

I've just read this article. What do folk think? http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/exclusive-uefa-plot-to-turn-the-euros-into-alternative-world-cup-8861335.html I think over the next twenty to fifty years we might see nation states becoming an entirely secondary feature of...

Re: Clydebank's Record Attendance

I believe it could be deceptive, yes. My dad recalls playing football on the north terrace at the Scotland v England game in 1970, when the attendance was 3,438 above capacity.

Re: Clydebank's Record Attendance

Another example of this is Brockville. I was excited about the Falkirk-Aberdeen game at the end of 1994-95, waiting for the attendance. 12,835. (4.01 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXhElU69MEY According to the record attendance, it was at most 56% full. Unless there had been serious wo...

Re: Clydebank's Record Attendance

Tynecastle looked packed with 28,967 in the ground v Celtic in the Cup in 1987. How 24,429 more got in is mind-boggling. Volunteer Park (Armadale Thistle) seemed full with 3,000 inside against Auchinleck in 1988. It must have been amazing with 11,000 inside. Cliftonhill is another. What was it like,...

Re: Do Scottish football clubs actually want to survive?

Sometimes society has to express its outrage through inflicting physical punishment on the perpetrators of certain crimes. I don't believe removing that from a society necessarily makes a better society or that we currently have a sufficient expression of outrage at certain crimes in our society. S...

Aye, violence has traditionally never caused more violence.

You may well not mean this literally, but if so that's a disaster of a point of view.

Nothing on the Morton website either.

Celtic will surely know the crowd, if only because they'll have to pay VAT on the cost of entry.

Re: Do Scottish football clubs actually want to survive?

I agree with the description in the OP and that it won't have a great effect on attendances. I have seen some stupid policing at matches. The stupidest was once when a Dundee United fan was ejected from or arrested at Tannadice. Hearts had the away "side" and half the away end and this guy had been ...
