Re: League Fixtures
I remember the late John Fairgrieve criticising The Scottish League in his Sunday Mail column some time in the early 1980's that Hearts, Hibs and Meadowbank were all away on the same Saturday, leaving the capital with no league fixture that Saturday. All 3 clubs were in different divisions from each...

Scotland V Ireland Amateur International 1958
Again a queerie, whist cataloguing my programme collection. The Scotland team is made up of the usual Queens Park players , Players from senior Amateur English sides and a few , of I take it, as young ground staff players who were not old enough to sign professional as was the rules in those days i....

League Fixtures
I find it amazing that the Scottish League fixtures list, had all four Lanarkshire clubs playing at home yesterday. It does nothing for the clubs, attracting the floating spectator when your club is away.

In the photo of the 1967 team you can see a young Danny McGrain with a lot more hair in the back row.

Re: Dutch Football 1981/82
Didn't realize at first it was Wikipedia but the seasons on offer looks like it was transferred to an Italian site on World football as I had already tried Wikipedia with no success and as I said on the last post RSSSF.

Re: Dutch Football 1981/82
Wonderful Sureitsza , Got the date and scores , which to me is more important than the attendance, which would of been the icing if I got it , but the first two are more important to me anyway. Many thanks. I love this site for what the members can unearth for others. I didn't know about the site yo...

Dutch Football 1981/82
Hopefully some one out there can help me . I'm cataloguing my near 6,000 programme collection and I have 2 Dutch programmes with no dates on them going through their league table in both programmes , and comparing it to other tables in various seasons and established by the teams in that season leag...

Re: Euro 2016
I was watching the Northern Ireland V Wales match, when the commentator was musing over the referendum result and made a comment about how the subject of one international team for Britain might raise its ugly head again, and he said it would mean the end of international football for Northern Irela...

Re: "The [Insert Dignitary Here] Kicked-off"
I had a Scotsport or Scottish Football Book when I was a kid in the mid 1960's and it had a photo of Sugar Ray Robinson kicking off before a Rangers V Dunfermline game at Ibrox . IIRC John Lawrence the then chairman and Scott Symon were also in the photo, on the park . I'm pretty sure Robinson, had ...

Re: Who would you classify as the big Scottish clubs?
Taking my scale, I think you could say the same about a few other countries as well and I'm not comparing our clubs with other countries clubs but I'm saying what if you asked a Spaniard or an Italian, my take on Spain would be Pool 1 Barcelona, & the two Madrid clubs, Sevilla & Valencia . Pool 2 Re...

Re: Who would you classify as the big Scottish clubs?
To me there is only 5, Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen , Hearts & Hibs, a few years ago , I would have added both Dundee teams to that but I feel they have downsized in the last few years . Both old firm members and Edinburgh clubs have upped the capacity of their stadia in the past few years, or in Heart...

League Cup Final
Who would have thought or even dared wager a few short years ago , that The Scottish Cup & The League Cup would be sitting in the boardrooms of Highland clubs at the same time. Thats what makes the game, that it is.
