Re: James Scott

He played for Liverpool (1910-15), Dumbarton (1919-21) and Third Lanark (1921-22). Can somebody please tell me when he played his 2 games for Third Lanark in 1921/22 season? He played for New York Giants 1923-26. I found two league and two Glasgow Cup matches. He was at right half in all matches ot...

Re: Junior International records

In the “ Football Books ” section I have given details of a new book we have just published – “ Junior Scotland 1889 to 2019: The Players and Matches ”. I wonder if anyone can help with a question that has arisen about the award of international caps for the full international team in the post-war p...

Re: Western League

Brian. Thank you for the explanation. Falkirk supporters would have preferred your league table, with the Bairns off the bottom, to the one published in their local newspaper!

Thanks Brian, I cannot see how the Falkirk Herald's table was so far out even with Motherwell's results!

Re: Irvine Meadow v Fauldhouse SJC 1958 televised

The television cameras were back at Meadow Park, Irvine on 2 January 1962 when the Senior fixtures had been virtually all postponed due to very bad weather. STV rushed a camera team to Irvine to film that afternoon’s Meadow versus Dundee Downfield Junior Cup tie. The tie had already been postponed s...

Re: McCallum jr & sr.

It might be the other way round. John Litster disk says a James McCallum signed for Morton in October 1903 and appears to have been placed on the Open to Transfer List at the end of the 1904/05 season. He only played a handful of league games. He is listed as a right half. Donald McCallum was a full...

Re: Clyde Shamrock

I do not know if this helps or hinders but In the Scottish Referee (19 November 1897) there is a Danforth in the Rosebank line-up to play against Clyde Shamrock. However, on that day Clyde Shamrock were also due to play Eastern Hibs in a Glasgow Juvenile Cup tie. So perhaps Clyde Shamrock had two te...

Re: SCOTLAND - IRELAND 11-0 23rd February 1901

Gabe and I have been trying to work out the goal times. We have used the British Newspaper Archive. As we know the precise goal times were not recorded as a matter of course at this time but the various reports of the game gave some times and other good clues. With the exception of the 6th goal we h...
