2009-10 Predictions

Postby scottish » Tue Jul 14, 2009 1:03 pm

Your chance to take part in this season's competition and win the much-coveted cyber-pint

Here are the categories. You can cut and paste these and make your own predictions. This forum will remain open up to just after the draw for the Champions League group stages on August 27th. So there's plenty of time to make your forecasts and edit them in the light of events such as transfers/pre-season injuries etc. However, the time and dates of edits are recorded so e.g. forecasting teams to lose in Europe AFTER they've already been eliminated (as one person did last season) WILL be noticed and no score awarded.

SPL Champions - Celtic
SPL Runners-up - Rangers
SPL Third - I think Hearts, unless the HMRC dodging shenanigans come to something.....nope - I think that McGhee will get the Dons into 3rd spot.
SPL Relegated - St Mirren

1st Division Champions - I want Dunfermline to some up - I really do. But it'll be Dundee!
1st Division Relegation play-off - Ayr United
1st Division Relegated - Livingston (cos the SFL are gonna hammer them with umpteen points deducted)

2nd Division Champions - Brechin
2nd Division Promotion play-offs (3) - Airdrie Utd, Peterhead & East Fife
2nd Division Relegation play-off - Clyde
2nd Division Relegated - Dumbarton

3rd Division Champions - East Stirling
3rd Division Promotion play-offs (3) - Cowdenbeath, Forfar & Annan Athletic
3rd Division Bottom - Albion Rovers

Scottish Cup Winners - Rangers

League Cup Winners - Motherwell - please!!!

Challenge Cup Winners - Dunfermline

Plus you can also predict how far our teams will go in Europe.
Rangers - I expect them to come 3rd in the Champs League group. What happens then?
Celtic - Europa League group stage - and beyond for one more round.
Hearts - I don't think they'll make the group stage.
Aberdeen - Dear gawd - 5-1 at home to a Czech side I hadn't heard of?
Falkirk - That mob from Leichtenstein (sp?)
Motherwell - as far as Steaua Bucharest and no further.

Plus some categories suggested by posters

1) First manager to get the sack - in the SPL? Eddie May.
2) First team to enter administration (apart from Livingston) - Kilmarnock
3) A wildcard daft prediction - Gordon Smith will be forced to resign in a blow job-gate scenario with Chick Young. Sorry - you've now read it and your mind's eye is now making you want to puke.

Being serious - I think he'll resign over something.

By the way - did anyone have Stranraer being taken over by a housing association as their wildcard last year???

Nah - wait until the appeal is heard, then thrown out, then Livi's last gasp for legal options outside the fitba fraternity then the death rattle.

Then make your predictions.

You couldn't even have guessed 4 weeks ago that Livi would just about fold, possibly be redeemed, then relegated to the bottom tier, which will probably kill them off and then leave the 3rd division with only 9 teams!
