Did Joe Kennaway ever play for the USA?

Former Celtic goalkeeper Joe Kennaway played for Scotland and Canada at international level - but did he ever represent the USA?

I think this is one of those myths which has been accepted as fact for a long time. Douglas Lamming's 'Who's Who' of Scottish Internationalists says Kennaway played for the USA v Canada in 1930 but the only full international the USA played in 1930 other than the inaugural World Cup was Brazil. I don't know which match Douglas Lamming is referring to but it wasn't a full international.

Joe Kennaway didn't become an American citizen (his wife was a Rhode Islander) until he was in his forties and after his playing days were over though he did play club football in the USA both before and after his time with Celtic.
