George Shields, Montrose manager

Does anyone know his YEAR of birth? I don't need the exact date. Suggestions on some sites he may have signed for Dundee, Arbroath, Forfar in early to mid-1970s but nothing on Litster to back that up, not even by looking for surname only and surmising George may be a middle name.

1961. He is a company director in private life so there are plenty of references online to his background.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything out about him. It's a pretty common name and as usual loads of Americans came up first. Even amending the search to George Shields + Montrose wasn't fruitful, as many references to him taking the Montrose job sere there but none wit his age or background.

There were a couple of links to Facebook and Linkedin but as I wouldn't trust the former with personal data as far as I could throw it and, despite being a founder member of the latter, chucked it the moment it started charging, there was nothing I could find.

Still, now I wonder who ever thought he signed for Dundee, Arbroath & Forfar?

1984/5 Player with Dundee North End (ex Forfar Albion and Dundee)
1990/1 Player with Kinnoull (ex Dundee)
1993/4 Coach with Forfar Albion (ex Kinnoull, St Josephs)
1997/8 Manager St Josephs
2001/2 Manager Kinnoull
2009/10 Manager Dundee Violet

I assume he was either an S Form or Delayed Transfer signing for Dundee.

I'm slowly compiling a database of Junior Players down the years. I don't keep a note of sources but the information about playing for Dundee is likely to have come from a Kinnoull JFC v North End programme from the 1984/5 season.

Just come across an article from Evening Telegraph August 1975 confirming 14 year old centre forward George Shields joining Dundee as an "S" Signing from St Columba's Boys Club (Dundee) who was still a pupil of Linlathen High School.
