Football exhibitions this summer

Post by ScottishFA » Tue May 17, 2016 7:36 pm

A couple of local football exhibitions are scheduled this summer, should be worth a look if you are in the area.

Stirling Albion in Japan, at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery, a display to mark the 50th anniversary of the biggest sporting event of 1966. 28 May to 31 July, admission free. See http://friendsofstirlingsmith.org.uk/Ne ... 202016.pdf

The Berwickshire Football Story, at Coldstream Museum, from the earliest times to the present day. 4 June to 29 August, admission free. See http://www.liveborders.org.uk/file/Muse ... 202016.pdf (page 30)

Took in the Berwickshire Football exhibition at Coldstream this week. Excellent. Well laid out - plenty interesting artifacts & photographs & good storyboards. Sections on Coldstream, Duns, Eyemouth United & Chirnside United FC's as well as general. The magnificent Scottish Qualifying Cup, on loan from Hampden, also on display. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Visited the Stirling Albion exhibition yesterday. Most of the exhibits relate to the club's history but no less interesting for that as there are some very interesting artifacts & storyboards. Couple of display cases & storyboards on the 1966 trip to Japan. Definitely worth a visit if passing. Was also able to buy a copy of "Saving The Albion" (Tom Browser & Paul Goodwin), the story of how the fans bought out the club, in the museum shop (£12.99).
