Hi, I am looking for any information regarding the first televised Scottish Junior Cup tie to be televised in 1958, looking for the date of the match, score and scorers if possible, thanks.

It was a fourth round tie in 1957/58, with brief highlights shown on Scotsport that night. It might have been longer but fog and poor light made it difficult for TV recording.

Thursday 2 January 1958
Meadow 4 (Morrison 15, Walker 50, Dallas, Walker), Fauldhouse United 2 (Innes 44, Mochan 47)

The BNA has a long report in the Irvine Herald the following week.

The television cameras were back at Meadow Park, Irvine on 2 January 1962 when the Senior fixtures had been virtually all postponed due to very bad weather. STV rushed a camera team to Irvine to film that afternoon’s Meadow versus Dundee Downfield Junior Cup tie. The tie had already been postponed several times and Downfield gave up their ground rights, in return for a guarantee, for Meadow Park to stage the game.

John Fleck, the Meadow Park groundsman, was the hero of the hour. He worked on New Year's Day to clear the snow off the pitch. He used a ladder with a plank of wood at the foot and then a rope to pull the snow off the field. His work and a slight thaw allowed the match to go ahead on a heavily sanded pitch. Meadow won 9-1 in front of a crowd of 2,800. It was the first time a Junior football match had featured as the main game in a televised sports programme.

On Saturday 29 December 1962 it was the turn of Irvine Victoria to host the television cameras. Again, the Senior programme had been decimated by the weather. Vics lost 0-6 to Glenafton Athletic in the Junior Cup with each club receiving £52 10s 0d from the television company.
