VICTORIAN ABBREVIATIONS
VICTORIAN ABBREVIATIONS
I've noticed a number of press reports in Victorian times where the name of some clubs is followed in brackets by either "S.C.T" or "R.C.T.". Grateful if anyone can tell me what these stand for.
Re: VICTORIAN ABBREVIATIONS
The abbreviations denote the appropriate competition the match was:
SCT - Scottish Cup Tie
RCT - Renfrewshire Cup Tie
ACT - Ayrshire Cup Tie or Aberdeenshire Cup Tie
and so on.

Re: VICTORIAN ABBREVIATIONS
Doh! The fact that the abbreviation was shown against one team (normally the away team) suggested it related to the team, not the competition.
Cheers.
Cheers.
