SCOTTISH LEAGUE V IRISH LEAGUE 1955
Can anyone tell me the actual date of the Scottish league v Irish League international in 1955? (the game could have been in Scotland OR Ireland). The reason I ask is that Iain Gardiner played in the game but I need to know if he was an East Fife player or a Motherwell player at the time. He was transferred from East Fife to Motherwell in October 1955.
I'd also like to know the dates of the Scotland v British Army matches played in the 1952/53 and 1953/54 seasons and the date of the Scotland 'B' v England 'B' international at Easter Road in 1953.
Any information at all would be very much appreciated!

Hi there and welcome to the forum. The match in question was September 15th 1954 at Windsor Park and Gardiner - still with East Fife - scored one of the goals in a 5-1 win for the Scottish League.
The 'B' international at Easter Road was a 2-2 draw on March 11th 1953.
Sorry, I don't have dates for the Army games. Maybe someone else reading this can help?

Thanks!
Superb - I've been hunting for that info for ages and I'm amazed to get a reply so quickly!
Maybe you can fill in another couple of blanks in my records regarding League Internationals.
I need to know the date and venue of the English League v Scottish League match in 1948 (East Fife's Davy Duncan was at outside-left) and also the venue when the two sides met on 10th April 1950 (East Fife's Allan Brown was in the side)?

Thanks. The first game was on March 17th 1948 at St James Park. The second game was on March 22nd 1950 - not April 10th - at Ayresome Park. The only inter-league game I can find for April 10th 1950 is a 2-2 draw between the Irish League and the League of Ireland.

Does anyone have line-ups and scorers from these four matches?

There was a SCOTLAND Under 23 game vs. THE ARMY in 1960-61 season which the U23s won 3-2 @ Fir Park but I don`t have a date I`m afraid. Thereafter the advent of European club competitions and the end of national service brought these kind of games to an end.

There was another Army match in 1952/53, Scotland XI 2, British Army 1, played at Hampden Park. I don't have the exact date but I think it was early March 1953.
As for the Under 23s, they had four other practice matches that I know of:
14/12/55, Clyde 1, Scotland U23 5, at Shawfield
11/1/56, Hibernian 4, Scotland Under 23 1, at Easter Road
11/4/60, Scotland Under 23 10, Scottish Second Division Select 2, at Brockville Park.
10/1/72, Scotland Under 23 1, West Germany Amateurs 0, at Hampden Park.
