Who did Celtic beat in this to make the include it in 'winning everything they entered in 1967?' Does anyone have their team line-ups?

I'm away from home at the moment and don't have my stats with me.

I know that Celtic did beat Rangers 4-0 at Ibrox in the First Round with Lennox getting a hat trick and McNeill the other. This is last time a Celtic player scored a hat trick v Rangers at Ibrox.

I can check when I'm home for losing finalists and Celtic line-up if needed although I'm sure someone else will have the detail to hand

Celtic beat Partick Thistle 4-0 in the final, ergo their semi-final opponents were either Queen's Park, Third Lanark or Clyde.

Rangers side was: Ritchie, Johansen, Provan, Greig, McKinnon, D Smith, Henderson, A Smith, Forrest, Millar, Johnston.

That's as full-strength as it got. Same eleven played in a 0-0 LC draw with Killie three days before the GC game and ten of them (Greig was missing) v Hibs in a 3-2 Easter Road loss four days later.

Thistle team was: Niven, Tinney, Muir, Cumming, McKinnon, Gibb, McLindon, Rae, Divers, Cunningham, Duncan

Again, a full-strength line-up.

I don't have the QP eleven though no doubt Forrest Robertson will tell us it was their U-15 side or such like!

A quick leaf through The Men With the Educated Feet reveals the Queens line-up was:

Taylor, Gilmour, Barr, Holmes, Neil, Hunter, Hay, McLaughlin, Buchanan, Campbell, Watson.

Which was again pretty much a full strength team for the Spiders at the time, with the possible exceptions of Ian Robertson and Niall Hopper.

Thanks for this. I was just wondering why Celtic included the Glasgow Cup in their greatest season. They would probably have won it anyway after beating Rangers so easily - all teams played their full-strength sides, so it WAS valued then.

The approximate attendance confirms the importance of the game at Ibrox. Footage of the Ibrox game still exists

The Breedon Rangers history gives an exact figure of 76,456. Of 27 games played at Ibrox (including four in Europe) that season the only bigger gate was the 77,790 who saw the 'league decider' against Celtic on May 6th 1967.
