Hibs v Leeds attendance 1968

I have a feeling I may have raised this topic before but couldn't find it so here we go -

The Hibs v Leeds Fairs Cup match on 10th January 1968 has an attendance of 30,000 (a suspiciously round figure) recorded in a few places, including the London Hearts site.

However I was sure I'd read a higher figure in a book on Hibs' history a few years ago - and I've just seen a figure of 40,503 here:-

Given the interest one would have expected given that Hibs were 1-0 down from the first leg isn't 40,503 the more likely attendance?
