Surfing on the internet to search some data to update the RSSSF archive, I found on a few websites a sent-off of Joe Jordan in the match vs Wales on 16th May 1981.

Some websites have not that , others have "after 75 minutes", at last another with "after 67 minutes".

The question is : which was the correct minute when Joe Jordan was sent-off ?

Thanks a lot.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all

The Glasgow Herald (18 May 1981) say Joe Jordan was: “sent off 14 minutes from time”.

I just watched a video of the match on Youtube and although brief highlights can be misleading, it would be hard to find a worse defensive display from a Scotland team - not hard to see why this was Gordon McQueen's last cap.

On the sending off, two points. First, it was a second booking rather violent conduct. Second, the timing isn't mentioned in the video or other match reports that i have seen, but Jordan's victim Terry Boyle didn't come on as a substitute until 71 minutes. So 75-76 seems reasonable.

Joe Jordan collided with Dai Davies, the Welsh goalkeeper and captain. The Times correspondent said he was unlucky to get booked for the incident. Indeed, Dai Davies pleaded with the referee not to book Joe. However, he got a yellow card. A minute or so later Joe elbowed Terry Boyle in the face in an off-the-ball incident and received his marching orders. Jock Stein said: “I saw it coming. If I had had a suitable substitute I would have brought him off”.
