Scottish Cup

Clyde say Sky want to show their game against Celtic in the Scottish Cup on Friday January 6th as their live offering. They are waiting for a polic ereport on safety before confirming it.

How sadly predictable. No doubt Sky will dress it up as the chance for a giant-killing but yet another OF live game when there are two all-SPL ties (Hearts v Killie, Dundee United v Aberdeen) in the same round is a bit much.

It's bizarre.

Last Weekend Satan TV plumped for Killie v Rangers when Celtic Hibs was on. This weekend Rangers v Hearts is ignored in favour of Inverness v Celtic.

It's stinking that live telly is as far as possible to suit old firm away fans. Of course, the clubs themselves could put a stop to it.

It actually doesn't suit their travelling fans. It's their HOME supporters who benefit, secure in the knowledge that only rarely will they have to alter travel arrangements.

Course Sky will dress it up to make it sound as if they're giving the First Division some much-needed exposure.

Its the SPL who are actually at fault. Their rules state that no club can have more than 4 home games shown. So with 2 of the games taken up by OF Derbies it means there is only room for 2 non OF opponents.

It was the same for the Celtic vs Hearts game earlier in the season.

However London Hearts will be meeting up at 3PM on Saturday. :D

It's pure coincidence that it is at the same time as the Rangers match.

Which is why they do it. To protect the OF's home games. They watch far more Saturday 3pm games than any of the top English clubs supporters.

But there's no such rule for the Scottish Cup. The same team can be featured in every round up to and including the final. My complaint about Sky is that they reckon Clyde v Celtic is the pick of the round which is palpable nonsense. The two all-SPL ties would draw a better audience than the match they are shoring this evening - Brentford and Oldham with a match against Stockport as the reward for the winners.

Riveting.

So true.

Hearts this season have had more coverage than ever. You would think it would have been the 'obvious' game for SKY to show if they have first pick.

Why was a safety report necessary for Clyde-Celtic when the same match was on BBC last season? As far as I know, that went without a hitch. Clyde are not a non-league side, so their ground should be safe. Do Sky test the English lower division grounds for safety? I'll bet not. For what it's worth, I agree that they should show the best games and not a potential mis-match.
