Scotland 3, Wales 0, on 3 April 1965.
It was a match in the old British Championship for amateur youth teams, ie Under 18s. Scotland won the championship that season, having already beaten England 2-1 and Northern Ireland 3-2.
Because of the SFA's rather odd policy of playing only amateurs in the British Championship, there were very few recognisable names in the teams, although a few did creep in - notably Alex Ferguson in 1958. In the UEFA tournaments, the professionals got a game.
The only other youth internationals played at Kilbowie were a 3-3 draw v Northern Ireland on 21 March 1970, also at amateur youth level; and a 3-2 win over Finland on 11 October 1994, a UEFA U16 championship qualifier. |
