SCOTTISH FOOTBALL FACTS

Postby LEATHERSTOCKING » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:13 am

At long last!! I`ve rewritten and vastly expanded the Scottish Football A-Z from 30 years ago to include the 6 red cards brandished in one game, the two occasions Hearts became defunct, Celtic`s biggest away league win, Rangers` 23 league titles in 28 years, a list of highest average goals/game in league football, the man who refereed most Cup Finals, the substitute who was substituted in an International, the player who wore 0 as his shirt number, the players who collected cup winners medals in both Scotland & England and thousands and thousands more facts and statistics. To get your copy and the chance to win the prize draw - the game you can play in the comfort of your own home to relive your favourite football moments(pie & Bovril not included!) - go to:

Bought it for iBooks, read on the plane. Out of date now though, surely. Nothing in it about Belgians to have scored the winning goal in a cup final in Scotland!

Happy to change it. Update for next August. When was the last time a Scottish Cup or League Cup Final had Irishmen managing both sides?

Bit of a trick question I think. It all depends on whether you count Willie Maley (b Newry but capped by Scotland as Irish). If so then 1914 and Maley and Dan McMichael of Hibs in the Scottish Cup Final. If not, then never as far as I can tell.

I`d definitely count Maley as Irish so Sunday`s was only the 2nd time then.

Better add the same two managers from the 1902 final when Hibs won. Definitely the first time in the League Cup as the two previous Irish (or Northern Irish depending on preference) winners there - Jimmy Nicholl and Martin O'Neill - defeated Scottish managers Tommy Burns and Bobby Williamson.

Need to check my Bumper Book of Famous Belgians but offhand I would reckon so.
