Maryhill FC - History 1884 to 2007

Post by brir500 » Thu Jun 07, 2007 8:42 am

I have just published a book on the history of Maryhill FC. Founded as a Junior club in 1884. The original club joined the Seniors in 1888 but reformed and returned to the Juniors in 1894.

The club has produced or helped many prominent Scottish players including Tommy Burns, Danny McGrain, Paul Wilson (Celtic), from Rangers Hall of Fame, David Meiklejohn, Aberdeen's first capped player Willie Lennie and a number of other Dons including legend Donald Coleman. Bradford City's FA cup winning captain and their goalscorer Jimmy Speirs was also a Maryhill Player.

The book carries photos, results, scorers, playing squads, players who went senior and articles from former players and managers including Tommy Burns, Hamilton Accies Chairman Ronnie MacDonald and former Stranraer and current Ayr United manager Neil Watt.

Copies of the book at £8 or £9 including post and packaging can be obtained from me at or
