Looking for info on career (when signed for and left which clubs) of:
Willie Archibald, Stirling Albion, later Dunfermline?, postwar - did he also play for Partick Thistle?

William Archibald, was a reserve keeper at Thistle between 1946 & 1948, on leaving Firhill he played two 2nd Division games in the next 2 seasons one for Stirling Albion and one for Dunfermline Athletic, no idea of his whereabouts after the Pars.

I have some notes on Willie somewhere but unfortunately can't locate them. Only other facts I can recall were that he was a Scottish Junior International goalkeeper (I think he played with Rosyth Recreation ). Another odd fact that stuck in my mind was that before he was a player he had at one time been a ballboy for Dunfermline at East End Park!

You might want to have a look at John Litster's disk

I also had a note of a Keeper, called Archibald of Lochgelly who kept goal for the Scottish Juniors 8/4/1947 vs. N Ireand, 19.4.1947 vs. Wales and 25.05.1947 vs. Eire.

What I wanted confirmation that he was William Archibald.

The football card states "Willie Archibald (GK) Stirling Albion. Received a free transfer from Partick Thistle at the end of last season [which would most likely be 1947-48] and was immediately snapped up by Stirling Albion. Willie was a triple junior internationalist two seasons ago..."

It has just come back to me that Willie Archibald's junior team was Lochgelly Violet.

Then it's definitely the same player. The Archibald who kept goal for Scotland in junior internationals played for Lochgelly Violet
