Funnily enough there is no mention of asking any Glasgow clubs to join in.
When you can describe a club like Tottenham Hotspur, a club that has not been league champions for 60 years, as a "Super Club" with a straight face, then anything is possible.

Re: SUPER LEAGUE

When the news first broke, I was thinking exactly the same myself. The bedrock of all football leagues created around the world is self-interest and maximising profits. The faux indignation emanating for those who should know better is total hypocrisy. Why the English FA and Premier League is gettin...

Re: Bob Ireland

Hi J.S.Norway The player appearances section in George Park's history of St.Bernard's "When the Well Ran Dry", no player named Ireland played for the team in season 1934/35 or immediately after. However for season 1941/42 there is a player listed called Ireland, no first names or initials given. He ...

Re: Stirling Albion book

Was wondering the same thing. There is no link in the book that I can find nor is there any indication in the website. Don't see any code or indicator in the book to prove purchase either.

Re: WORLD CHAMPIONS

One other reason I have seen muted in various sources is the fact that they also defeated Preston North End as well. Thus having beat both the winner and the runners-up of the FA Cup they claimed to have valid title to "Champions of the World".

Re: Partick Thistle v Morton 1896 League Match

Yes, I'm 100% certain the January result was in fact the league match. It just puzzles me why so many sources, including the SPFL themselves, have gone with the April match. Reading the newspapers match reports they all state the January match was a league match and the April match a friendly (or or...

Partick Thistle v Morton 1896 League Match

18th January 1896: - Partick Thistle 4 Morton 1 - Inchview, Glasgow. 18th April 1896: - Partick Thistle 2 Morton 1 - Inchview, Glasgow. This is something that has been bugging me for a while – the result and date of the above league match. Most statistical publications I have come across (the 1980s ...

Hi “tatty73”, thanks for taking an interest! Yes. I shall be uploading several more months within the next week, taking it up to almost the conclusion of the first league season. As well as the results the updates will include some interesting clashes between the SL and the SFA plus the massive clim...

Re: RSSSF Scotland records - changes

Cheers bluedragon, glad you found that useful. Yes, I did notice the suggestion that William Sellar put forward the idea. Other reports, however, suggested it may have been Walter Arnott the Queen's Park and Scotland captain. It was alleged that this would be Arnott's last season at Queen's Park as ...

Re: RSSSF Scotland records - changes

Not sure if this counts as an unofficial Scotland match, however, on the 21st March 1891 a Scotland International XI played Corinthians at Hampden Park. Queen's Park were due to play Corinthians in their traditional match but the Queen's Park committee, at a meeting on 18th March 1891, took the unpr...

Re: Scottish Football Historical Archive

Thanks for the update, Brian, I fully understand your position and hope that things improve for yourself and family in the very near future.

The point you raised, Alan, as regards possible financial support is a good one. I would also be willing to contribute.

Scottish Football Historical Archive

Has the Scottish-football-historical-archive moved again? The last link I had to the site is scottish-football-historical-archive.co.nf, however it seems that link no longer exists. Does anyone have a new link?

Many thanks.
