Central League trophy aka Calder Shield found

Post by HibeeJibee » Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:58 pm

I've vague memories of Central League minutebooks being tracked-down some years ago? Stirling archives?

Anyway, proof the strangest stuff turn-ups... someone seems to have handed its trophy into Bo'ness v Newtongrange in EOSL earlier.

After CL was absorbed into SFL it became a senior cup for Linlithgowshire.

Just came across this thread. What an amazing discovery! Currently researching the central league 1919-1921 and busy collating data. As far as I am aware this is the first attempt at doing this, and there will inevitably be a few missing line ups. Robert Hutchison has been a tremendous help with the data from stenhousemuir, Alloa, kings park. We are on the final push now and will be published in a book this year 'Scottish League and Cup Football 1919-1922'.

Alan, do you have the dates and scores for Broxburn's home matches v Hearts and St Bernards and Clackmannan v Armadale in 1919-20?

14th April 1920 clackmannan v Armadale 4-2
Not 100% sure about that Armadale game though, don't have any further details for it. Someone else provided those details.

Really looking forward to buying this when it comes out.

I have complete teamlines for 56 of the 60 East Stirlingshire matches in the Central League and all the scorers. Also, I have complete East Stirlingshire teamlines and scorers for the 5 Central League Cup matches that they played.

Happy to share this info with you if you need it. Just let me know.

East StirlingShire were due to meet East Fife in the Central League Cup 2nd Round in 1919/20 but East Fife scratched to concentrate on the winnng the League.

East Stirlingshire therefore progressed to the Semi Final to meet Heart of Midlothian A.

We are missing two East stirling teams from season 1919/20.
27/09/19 v Bo'ness
14/4/20 v Alloa athletic

A few of the team line ups have been taken from the newspapers before the game and are just predicted line ups.
