Scottish Cup - they shall not meet...

Post by Shawfield Boy » Tue May 11, 2021 9:56 pm

Evening All,

I was emailing Duncan Carmichael at Ayr United and we got on to the sunject of Scottish Cup draws. I informed him that Clyde being drawn to play St Johnstone in Perth this season was a "first" for us in the Scottish Cup, and Duncan was telling me Ayr United have never been drawn to play East Fife (home or away) in the National tournament.

Also, of the "established" clubs, above Lowland League level, Clyde have never met Queen of the South or Alloa at home in the Scottish Cup.

Any other Scottish Cup quirks like this?

Cheers

SB

Falkirk had avoided Arbroath, both having competed continuously since the late 1870s.
Having finally been drawn to face each other in 2019-20, they then met again this season.
Possibly the longest ever example of waiting for a bus then two come along at once?
